I remember driving in a pickup truck on a dark, rainy night someplace around WV when some guy first told me about Charley Pride and how he had to break through a lot of racial barriers to be a black country western singer in the 1970s. Of course, that was when CW music was still good, not like the crap they pump out today. He was 86 and they said he died of complications from covid.
