More subtly diabolical: turn the tubs at the front of the display around 180 degrees. Most people aren't attentive enough to buy a product if they don't instantly see the brand logo.

The result: the tubs aren't destroyed, but they aren't bought either. Grocery Stores don't replace Ben & Jerry's ice creams as fast as they do other brands, and Ben & Jerry's loses out much more than they would if their product were destroyed.

They would still get the profits. You would be hurting the stores

19
snarkazoid 19 points ago +19 / -0

Only temporarily. Eventually the store will not take the risk of ordering any more.

3
emperors_apprentice 3 points ago +3 / -0

The initial supply sure. But if you hide it well enough, it doesn't ever get purchased or marked as a loss, it doesn't end up in the store's inventory auto fulfillment.

Have you walked past it in the store? If so, you are eligible to take part in this.

Keep in mind that Wally has a gazillion cameras on every isle. I'm sure if enough people do this, they'll be looking for people that do it. Not taking a position, but if you're caught on camera and prosecuted or trespassed, could get embarrassing or expensive.

Even if you take it and walk around the store for a bit, then drop it in the shoe isle, their security/shrinkage group can go back and see you put it there, then track you to the register, pull up the transaction, and assuming you didn't pay with cash, profit.

Bluestorm83 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm actually making the opposite point. Like, I work at Walmart. Ben and Jerry already made their money when we bought it from them. When it melts, it's marked out as Shrink, reduces my quarterly bonus, and then Walmart buys more from Ben and Jerry to fill the market demand. It would take a very long time for Walmart to experience a sufficient loss on that product (and they would meter it by specific varieties, so if, say, all of "Steven Colbert's Americone Dream" is found melted for months, they may nix it... but they'll just bring in more "Cherry Garcia," which hasn't seen any loss, and has been more popular than ever before. And for those months, cue to increased shrink, every associate in the store's bonus has probably dropped by an amount determined by thresholds. Maybe their bonus has dropped by 10 bucks... maybe it's dropped 150, depending on how much they were above the next gradient.

So if you want to punish Ben and Jerry for their preachy bullshit, don't melt their icecream... just call Walmart Corporate and let them know that you find Ben and Jerry's overt politics offensive, and that you won't be buying any of their products in any Walmart stores. Walmart takes customer complaints very seriously, as Customers = Income. If enough people were to call in and calmly explain that they will continue to shop at Walmart, but will only be buying other brands of Ice Cream (and suggest some patriotic ones if you know any!) Ben and Jerry will receive reduced shelf space, less frequent orders, and less promotion... which will lead to reduced sales, which will result in less justification in keeping them around at all.

Basically: Slay the Dragon with the thing it hates most: CAPITALISM. Glorious, Free Market Capitalism!

Breyer’s, Haagen-daz, fuck, I’d buy Halo-Top before fucking Ben and Jerry’s. Actually, one of the best ice cream pints I buy all the time is Velvet’s Cookies and Cream, better than Breyer’s Oreo in my opinion. Breyer’s is stingy with the Oreos, and fuck Oreo anyway, with their LGBTLMNOP rainbow cookies.

I’m kind of a connoisseur of gas station ice cream pints...

Libertas_Vel_Mors 4 points ago +4 / -0

Fortunately, I get to choose between Tillamook ice cream and Umpqua ice cream (both are Oregon brands, neither are political, and the former comes from the same folks who make the famous cheese. Either is 100x better than that shit B&J, and only half the cost. So yeah, fuck B&J.)

Nah dawg. Dreyer's is gross too. But Breyer's is also gross.

Or maybe it's regional. I know for fact that breyers in my area is yuck. I can look on the ingredient list of breyer's vanilla and it's a mile long.

I think that would just hurt the stores that purchased the ice cream in bulk.

One could:

*call grocers headquarters and ask that they terminate any procurement agreements with B&Js (ugh... I just now got why it’s Ben and Jerry and not Jerry and Ben... degenerates)

*review bomb their product everywhere

*call B&Js offices and ask if they can comment on the HIV viral load of their ice cream. Record and post results

I only eat Bluebell. Sorry Yankees. It's the best ice cream ever, but they only sell it in the South.

1
trumpn 1 point ago +1 / -0

On IT!!!

1
BaconBun11 1 point ago +4 / -3

That doesn't affect Ben & Jerry's at all. Instead you screw over the store. The store buys the product from the supplier and then sells it. If the item is damaged or doesn't sell, the store ends up eating those costs. And they get the ice cream in stock because there is a demand for it from customers.

You would do better to stick to encouraging people not to buy the brand. Doing what you suggest is just blind lashing out but harming the wrong target.

5
nickybops [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'm not asking you to go to fucking small local shops and telling you to throw the ice cream in the toilet and then rub it in their face. Use your brain. Go to Walmart and do it. If you care about Walmart then idk what to tell you.

0
BaconBun11 0 points ago +1 / -1

Again, I see no point in lashing out like this. It's petty and not hitting your intended target. It's not unlike the same mentality of "it's fine to shoplift, because-" insert your excuse here. Like "this grocer is rich" or "fuck capitalism" or what have you. I'm not going to rob someone of their money. Which is what destruction of something that doesn't belong to you is. It's robbery.

I still don't agree with the actions you are proposing.

Just like how I wouldn't agree with it if BLM/Antifa was going into any store and destroying cans of Goya or "MyPillow" products. It isn't justified to destroy and steal to express your political outrage.

How the hell does that harm Ben & Jerry’s? The store already paid for the product.

4

1

Stores would simply start protecting the product from vandals by displaying it in a case accessible only to staff.

You know you could just boycott the product.

-1
Mazdaaron -1 points ago +1 / -2

I'll just turn the political ones upside down and leave the rest as is since people will yell at me for doing what you said lmao

-1
Dutch_Christian -1 points ago +1 / -2

Don't hurt your local business by destroying the products they bought for their store. Just buy another brand from them.

There’s nothing to clean. Test it for yourself. It melts and stays in the tub.

3
nickybops [S] 3 points ago +4 / -1

Woah there, don't use your brain.

0
Bluestorm83 0 points ago +2 / -2

It fucks up my quarterly bonus, though, and Ben and Jerry already got their money when they sold it to the store.

-2
IALiberty20 -2 points ago +1 / -3

Using it more than you.

3
nickybops [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm offended.

2
CyrusKingOfAnshan 2 points ago +4 / -2

Disregarding all the things from this that will cause a mess.

You aren't hurting Ben and Jerry's like this. They already got their sale.

4
snarkazoid 4 points ago +4 / -0

Briefly. But eventually stocking B&J will be a bad business decision.

1
nufosmatic 1 point ago +1 / -0
