Pedes have the best wives. Everyone knows, believe me. People say it all the time.

Very nice.

If you are mechanically inclined - remove the front sight base and replace with a low profile gas block. Then install a 15" m-lok handguard. You can get a flip-up front sight to replace the lost front sight. I'd recommend a good LPVO - anything from 1-6x to 1-10x.

Also get an ALG ACT trigger - best budget trigger around.

What is the purpose of a ow profile gas block? I plan on getting a holographic sight at some point. As of now the bank is broken enough with just base hardware. Havent even shot it yet and have had it for a month due to time/ammo constraints. Dont want to burn through the ammo we got at the moment.

Im a total newb at rifles. Only every played with shotguns and pistols.

Coworker was swearing by Larue triggers. Thoughts?

A low profile gas block allows the installation of a free float handguard. The benefits of a FF handguard are improved accuracy (no force or moment on barrell), and more real estate to add things like a foregrip, QD sling mount, light + pressure pad, etc.

Larue makes high quality, reasonably priced triggers so I’ve heard. I personally wouldn’t worry about doing anything to your rifle at this point. Trigger time should be your focus before you get the bells and whistles.

Six mags for the rifle, 1,000 rounds of m855, blue force tactical sling, safari land als OWB holster for the pistol, 3 more mags for it, 1,000 rounds of whatever caliber the pistol is of ball ammo plus 100 rounds of hollowpoint, a good IWB holster for the pistol, a Rhodesian, then a plate carrier with some IIIA soft panels, eye and electronic hearing protection, a rail mounted weapon light for the rifle and either an Aimpoint or an eotech then an LPVO optic with some quick-detach mounts. Then recut the foam in that case and delete the pistol space it should be on you or in your bedside vault. Combination lock for the case. Now you need a setup for both of you.

Like already said. Sling, a lot of mags and as much ammo as you can find. Holster for the pistol. Now. Thise things are useless in the case. Always be ready. It's tough with kids
