You're entitled to your opinion. She's doing nothing wrong. Men and women have fought and given their lives to give us so much, including our ability to show our love for country by wrapping ourselves in a flag if we so choose. They've even fought for your freedom to lawfully desecrate the flag with impunity if you so choose. This young lady is showing her love for her country and under no circumstances in today's world with kids growing up so fucked up, should that be discouraged or disparaged such as you are doing.

It's not OPINION, it's part of the Flag Code. It is disrespectful. And she is LITERALLY doing something wrong.
The wearing of the flag is listed as unacceptable according to U.S. flag code section 176 (d) which states, "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery." While many people think the flag code states that you can't wear any type of flag apparel, including a cape, the truth is that you can wear flag clothing as long as it's not made from an actual, real American flag. So can you wear a flag tee shirt? Yes. Can you wear a cape made with the stars and stripes as the pattern? Yes. Can you drape an actual flag over your shoulders and wear it as a cape? The answer to that one is no because of the flag code stipulating real flags are not meant for such purposes.
You're right and you're wrong. It is flag code, not law. Antifa legally burns the American Flag in the streets every day. (Burning of the flag is legal anyways, burning anything in the street is illegal but nonetheless unenforced.) Fact of the matter is that what you initially stated is nothing at all more than your own personal opinion. Fact.
United States Flag Code is actually Federal Law, Chapter One of Title Four of the United States Code, specifically. However, it was written intentionally to be unenforceable. It is assumed that it would be followed out of Patriotism.
There's no opinion about it, this is the way that Our Nation has chosen to be a standard way for us to honor Our Flag. You are free to choose to be an asshole and dishonor it, without the law punishing you, but if I personally see someone disrespecting MY flag, they need to watch their fucking back.
