I think it depends on the police department. I've been told that the capital police (only patrols the small area around the capital) is different from the DC police. The capital police are as crooked as they come; they were the ones who covered up Seth Rich's murder, forget them.
This would have been the DC Metropolitan Police, the city's normal police department, given the location.
There is also SCOTUS police, secret service, postal inspectors, and various other police agencies related to the various government things.

Had a few good conversations with some of the cops outside harringtons. it was a different police force with actual riot gear over by blm plaza. not sure if it was swat, state police or what, but they weren't dc police given their gear/demeanor. Many trump supporters were attacked for wearing maga gear walking by themselves or in small groups. Cops didn't let any fighting happen from what i saw. Like i said, they were spread thin. I didn't see them mistreat any PBs though. again, just what I saw.

It's simple, the police are usually not for, or against, us. And they are not for, or against, Antifa/BLM. They are simply there as neutral observers to perform the duty that is handed down to them by their superiors. Many times that duty is to stand down and let Antifa (and especially BLM) get way with almost everything, while at the same time shut down conservatives who try and fight back.

If you think that cops are just sitting around while off-duty looking for "intel" to use against their neighbors and harass everyone, you have a serious misunderstanding about cops. That describes a lot of cops. They deal with some of the worst people in our communities every day, so bitching should be expected. I learned a lot from my cop family members and friends about the immediate signs to look for in troublemakers and "bad eggs", so I think all those stories "bitching about the people they deal with" taught me some valuable life lessons.

My 2 cents: I was on a military base watching police forces from across a large region train in riot control before Protests as we know them now were even a thing.
I think the G8 summit or whatever, just before Occupy Wallstreet went super lame.. They orchestrated the whole ramp up - turning police forces into paramilitary units. Or at least trying to.

I agree to a point ... But that's the sacrifice our side is not willing to take to ensure our country doesn't go down the progressive socialist road...... They need to make a choice either they are going to enforce the communistic orders and that's the side they have taken... Or they're going to say "I'm not doing that!!" That was SO noticeable about the DC police. They let Antifa and BLM pummel older MAGA people a couple weeks ago but when the PBs retaliated against Antifa the DC cops were right there to stop it. You can't really donate directly. We do have baseball-type helmets but PB is not uniform so every guy makes his own decision on what to wear and if he cares about his identify being exposed. Most likely if you can see his face in DC he's already been doxxed anyways so what's the difference? And I think it makes more impact in a way to have your face exposed-- you're not hiding in any way, shape or form and expect to be held accountable for your every action.
