My only advice is mag feed Shotgun - don't they suck. I've tried two of them and they jammed all the time. I went back to a pump action Mossberg. If it's home defense and you can find 5.56 / .223 (yeah I know it's hard to come by) or the even more elusive 300 blkout get an AR Pistol. Just my 2 cents.
I'm planning on buying this https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/125794 shotgun and I need some recommendations on magazine and ammo types preferably from same seller (Budsgunshop.com) I would like to get the right stuff so I'm asking for any advice from fellow pedes to steer me in the right direction, thanks for any advice! Also if there is a better option I'm all ears.
Shotgun ammo tends to be more available than rifle/pistol. Easier to roll your own if you have to, as well.
What you are showing looks like a Turkish Hatsan. Not a bad choice for home defence if you are on a budget, but I would look for something American/Euro made. Stoeger is not bad, either. Just watch out for "Made in" label: lots of old labels make their stuff in Turkey, too.
Get full-power buckshot or slugs, it should run just fine. Most of the difficulties people have with semi-auto shotguns cycling is with low-power birdshot loads not powerful enough to cycle the action.
If you're still following this thread I did want to mention one thing. After 20 years of plinking targets and a few years in the Marines -- support MOS not an 0311 -- I'll leave you with this advice. Cheaper weapons required more expensive ammo to feed them. I have a Taurus G3 than runs awesome with Fiocchi and Hornady brass rounds. That means shot placement and jam free operation in a cheap $300 9mm handgun. Almost all Semi-Auto shotguns need good shells to prevent jamming, especially mag fed ones. I understand why your looking at a shotgun for first purchase, just balance the purchase. Good luck and find training! If you can not find it locally search the internet for basic handling and shot transition methodology. And go through snapping in training even by yourself, flag the chamber and practice sweeping and clearing your home. Putting whatever training you get in practice, like never lead a room with the barrel and so forth. Look up Mike Glover, or Tu Lam if they're not banned on YouTube yet. Just train train train - it's all LARPing until the first round goes down range. God bless patriot
Thanks! I just "pulled the trigger" on the Turkish pump action, and yeah 1st timer for home defense and peace of mind. My bro-in-law is an avid hunter and I plan on having him show me the basics and I'll check out Mike Glover & Tu Lam on YouTube if they're there. Appreciate the input big time.I suspect I'll upgrade after familiarizing myself with this 1st cheap gun and figure out what suits me.
I recommend a pump for the reasons already given and sniffy says he's going to outlaw ALL semi auto firearms which may be a negotiation tactic or more likely not.
Watch the Maverick 88 on sportsmans outdoor super store. It comes in and out of stock regularly. Try to get 00 before slugs birdshot is fine for practice but make sure you shoot some of your defensive ammo and observe the pattern. Where are you going to have the gun shipped? It has to go to an FFL and they all have different fees for the transfer. Give them a chance they might have what you want but if not make sure they know you're sending a gun to them before you send a gun to them.
Thanks for the input. I went ahead and ordered the budget Turkish pump action tactical. I figure I'll step up to something better like the Maverick once I have a bit more familiarity and experience under my belt. For now I just need the peace of mind and ability to defend my home ASAP.
The Turkish guns tend to be good quality. I'm not sure the Maverick would be a huge upgrade. A 590A1 would be awesome but they are unobtanium at the moment. Hope you enjoy the gun and never have to use it in anger.

I'm pretty ignorant, are there any for sale anywhere that I can order?
Would this be a better option in your opinion? https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/411559260/escort+slugger+tactical+pump+12+ga+black+18+in+5%2b1
Absolutely!
Just ordered it and a couple of boxes of 12 gauge buckshot, can't find any slugs, thanks for your input!

Semiautos can be tricky with ammo. Get a pump.
^^^^ This ^^^^ pump action over auto or mag fed any day!
Any advice on what type and where to order from?
Your friendly local gunstore. Big box will do in a pinch.
It's not like they are going to ship it to your door.
like this? https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/411559260/escort+slugger+tactical+pump+12+ga+black+18+in+5%2b1 also is ammo for this more readily available for shotguns than other long guns now?

Thanks! Is shotgun slugs and full-power buckshot more readily available right now?
Lol no. You can occasionally find buckshot if you look around a bit.

Here’s a budget AR that’s in stock as of right...now: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/modern-sporting-rifles/anderson-am15-optics-ready-non-rf85-m4-556mm-nato-16in-black-semi-automatic-modern-sporting-rifle-301-rounds/p/p52815
People have been scooping these up non-stop and they seem to be available online every other day and last for about three hours before selling out again: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/modern-sporting-rifles/diamondback-db15yb-556mm-nato-16in-black-semi-automatic-rifle-30-rounds/p/1527570
It's not the rifles it's the ammo that's an issue. Federal Ammunition announced a couple of weeks ago that they had a 12 month $1 Billion backorder.
Ideally Id like something like that but I want ammo NOW and I'm assuming shotgun shells are more readily available, is that true, I'm new to this.
