Wife has never liked guns. She would not hold or learn how to use them. She has always just thought mine were a hobby. Just for me to go and hang out with the guys at the range, which is mostly true :).
My Wife is not into politics. Not a huge Trump fan, but agrees Biden is a joke.
Last night I was watching the live feeds from DC with antifa acting like fools. She asked me if I thought she should have her own, in case "something" were to happen. My first though was she can use one of mine, but when someone is starting to take the red pill its better let them go all the way.
After work on Monday, we are going of to the Gun Shop. Hopefully they have something in stock. Wish us luck.
I was vehemently against guns before COVID hit and the BLM riots began. I even turned down my dad passing down a couple of shotguns to my sons. I still kick myself about that. I got my first handgun about 6 months ago. A CZ P-10C and it’s a dream to shoot. I’ve not missed a target yet. Might add some long range pieces to my collection at some point (though I have no idea where to start).
I grew up in a hunting/gun culture, so I was never against them. Not enamored of them, either. They're just a tool.
A tool that makes it possible for a disabled woman of my age able to take on a 6'4", 230#, 24 year old man with dark intentions.
I must admit that I did feel differently about guns when I lived in apartments. I was so hyperaware of how many people were crowded in close to me. I do understand why people in cities are more wary.
But then, in the apartments, I could literally scream for help and somebody would hear me. It's not like that here in the middle of the boonies with a 45 minute wait for the cops.
My wife is the same, very uncomfortable right now with firearms. She never handled one before me, I got her shooting now but she needs more time to get comfy with guns, we would go to the range and the percussion from the round still bothers her. I'm looking for a local place we can shoot outdoors, I think the shots will be much easier on her. Just something to consider with your wife, we also went to the range and rented several handguns and she actually preferred a smaller full-size in 9mm to the .380. honestly the recoil from the LCP is comparable to my compact .40 S&W so I get it, currently shopping for a full-size for her and I'm going to carry the .380, good thing it isn't pink.lol
I have plenty of eye and ear protection, I'm talking about the round being felt from the indoor range, makes her uncomfortable. An outdoor range should help this because it's not so enclosed
Two suggestions. My wife carries (occasionally, sigh....) a Sig P238. It's a .380, quite compact, and built very, very well. It's easy to rack, which is an issue for many women (though with some training most can rack most pistols).
Related, S&W's 9mm Shield E-Z is designed to be easy to rack. The regular Shield, (my EDC), does have a stout recoil spring. The Shield E-Z has a grip safety, so one does need to practice to get used to it.
Just last night my wife said we better get more ammo. WTH, woman? You gave me grief about it a year ago. It’s not exactly cheap and readily available at the moment. I will say this about her, she was already an NRA member before we met. That was a sweet cherry on top of that sundae.
My wife never liked gins either. When Trump got elected I started talking to her about Antifa that automatically showed up on the scene as a left wing domestic terrorist organization. We live in TX so we feel somewhat insulated from the madness. Long story short she agreed to having weapon(s) at her disposal this year and I bought her a glock g43x. Since, she has a concealed carry and like to go to the range. Even though ammo isnt cheap i am happy about her opening her eyes to the necessity of the times we live in. Congrats to you also. Im sure it creates a feeling of peace as ot does with me.
I know, the object of getting her the smaller pistol was because I also had her get her carry permit. She also had not mentioned that she was uncomfortable with the recoil until after realizing she wasn't going to get used to it like she thought. I fired both when I bought them and it didn't bother me, initially I was looking for a 9mm for her close to the same size but passed because I expected it would be too much
We did, tried like 6 or 7. She liked the walther .22 full-size but that's not stopping anyone real fast unless you're a great shot, and she's not. I don't want her to have to rely on accuracy as much as stopping power in a high stress situation where she might be less accurate, so we were hoping she'd get used to the LCP, and needed something tiny because she often doesn't carry her purse. How it really happened? she didn't like it so she was unmotivated to shoot, not having enough time with it to get used to it. Working a full-size into the budget right before corona, but now that I can afford the pistol there's an ammo shortage and the election uncertainty that's kept us with what we already have. I'm considering a purchase anyway regardless of current climate and ammo availability.
Sig P238. I love it, the thing shoots like it's an extension of my own body. It's rather spendy, but very well made. We have thousands of rounds through it, and it's as smooth as it was new. They recommend replacing the recoil spring and striker spring every 1500 rounds (Sig mailed us some for free, great service!).
I've tried the original LCP and it is very snappy, very uncomfortable for me to shoot. They updated it to the LCP2, and I haven't tried one of those.

When the wife wants a gun, I don’t care how poor you are, you will move hell and high water for her to get it
For some wives it's better if they aren't carrying guns.

Grab some ear protection. They're worth it.

Oh ok. Understandable. I know how she feels.
i recommend glock 19
I kind of want a chick pistol, they seem easier to handle. there I said it.

Show her an underboob holster 👍
I'm sure there's more than one, but I like the Flashbang.
I use a flashbang holster. Love mine!
Nothing says LOVE like a Ruger. Or a Kimber.

Mine wants the ez slide
yeah, get her the EZ. Nice peice.
LCP? I bought my wife the same one in black in .380, she doesn't like it because of the recoil as small as it is
Smaller pistols have more recoil because there is less mass to absorb the rearward force.

Try to find a Sig 365xl.
The longer slide helps mitigate recoil.
If possible, have her try a few at the range.

Try a Ruger LC9. I love mine. Named her "Betty Nugs".

Nice, looked just like an LCP. Do agree about it being snappy for sure
The LCP is hard on my trigger finger too, tends to pinch. The P238's trigger occupies the whole guard, so it doesn't do that.
The P238 is made in a huge variety of styles, if that matters. Some are quite beautiful.
That's not a very tactical color :) better to be packing then not though
Lovely
