It’s a severe ego thing for people in Education to be referred to as “Doctor”. I worked with fellow colleagues that would lose their shit if you didn’t refer to them as “Doctor” when I taught in college. I made fun of them as egomaniacal clowns. Basically, it’s people that are sensitive that you are belittling them by not referring to them by their “earned and proper” title. I knew plenty of Ph.D.’s that were just self-absorbed asshats.
That's gotta be my sister you're referring to. She's got a PhD in freaking GEOGRAPHY. But she thinks her liberal shit doesn't stink. I can't stand her anymore. She didn't even know what tensile strength meant when she was tying something down in a truck. She's a complete idiot if you take her out of her preferred environment.
Most are lost when taken out of their speciality. It's part of the breakdown of education. Lots of weight put on specialty and no balance with generalization/context for the information a lot of them just parrot out of the curriculum they were fed.
Lots of people out there with a lot of information in their head but almost zero knowledge (the applied and contextual understanding of information) of their field and its place within the greater context of human knowledge.
Doctorate in Education.
Raised Hunter Biden.
