Hunting with mine right now. Nothing fancy, just a 91/30 that holds close to 1 MOA with decent PPU ammo a long eye relief 7x scope. I've taken bear and plenty of deer with it.
he offered a couple diff guns but i opted for the mosen for that reason + nostalgia. Ive never liked pistols due to that very issue, but had allot of success with the mosin.

Is that the ATI stock? I was looking at those online last night. My Mosin is my only long distance caliber and I need to get it more usable. I mean, it works well right now, but I would like to modernize it a little.
Did your dad have the barrel shortened or did he get it that way?
Have you looked into optics? Looks like you have the straight bolt handle, so it would be a scout scope unless you turn the handle down?
im not into scopes personaly, he raised me on ironsights and its just stuck with me even in video games lol

Those things are beasts. Especially with wooden stock and a steel butt plate. This looks nicely modded, OP.
yeh sadly over the years the wood had gone bad so my father had to replace it.
