A PhD in education is the lowliest of PhD's. Many teachers keep taking classes, as they are paid to do so with bigger pay for degrees. Masters is extremely common, and then eventually PhD if they keep at it. She should be referred to as Dr* Biden
The title gives her fake authority. We have been programmed to trust and admire doctors. Jill is more of a scumbag than Joe because she knew about everything that was going on, Chyna, kid diddling, and other fuckery and SAT BACK AND DID NOTHING.
"Doctor" is a title that refers to a level of education, not profession. Because the highest medical training is a doctorate, "doctor" became the default term used for highly trained medical personnel. It has since been used to confuse people all across the English speaking world.
Yes, she is is a doctor of education, just not one of medicine. I still wouldn't let her educate any of my kids.
Maybe I missed the covid context, but I’ve seen multiple things saying ‘she’s not really a doctor’ today, and I don’t think that’s a good angle when it’s easily disputed. If she’s banging on about covid under the banner of being a doctor, then fair game
That's what's going on though. They keep using her Doctor credentials to seem very qualified when there's discussion around covid-19 and trust the experts topics. Just because someone had a PhD in basket weaving doesn't mean she's anymore qualified to discuss "experts" and covid-19.
The reason you're seeing all of this is because an ex-professor (so someone with a PhD also) suggested in a WSJ op-ed that Jill Biden drop the Dr. titled in front of her name because it's disingenuous and misleading during the pandemic situation when she doesn't have an MD. The ex-professor got huge backlash for "misogynistic" comments.
In reality, he's just making a fair point. In academic situations, it's fine to call someone Dr. because everyone kind of understands it's not an MD. When you're using the Dr. title outside of academia in day-to-day discourse, most people default to thinking it means MD and when our current cultural situation is one in which healthcare/doctors is front-line due to the pandemic, using Dr. outside of academia is even more misleading, one may say it's being done on purpose.
Honestly, these days, a PhD is a dime a dozen. All it indicates is a person, for whatever reason, decided to go to school long enough to get one. Outside of that, it doesn't mean much. They'll be fairly good at the general idea of their specialty but outside of that limited scope, their opinion is going to be no better than anyone else's. Since almost every political question posed is outside of this realm, a PhD doesn't offer much in the way of expertise. The worst part is when the PhD holders don't understand their knowledge's limitations because then in some ways their arrogance leads to ignorance and makes them less capable fo providing a good opinion than someone without this handicap.
I read it's a "Doctor of Education" title that she got with a shitty 20,000 word dissertation (I've read excerpts it doesn't even sound like a native English speaker wrote it. It was probably plagiarized). The norm for dissertation lengths in PhDs is NOT 20,000 words.

As a teacher with an M Ed, I can confirm that this is completely true.

Caryn Johnson (Whoopie Goldberg) fell for it when she suggested Jill Biden become Surgeon General because "She is one hell of a Doctor"
Not a real doctor. But she plays one on TV!
She's a pediatric Gynecologist. Cmon man!
Oh for fuck's sake...ok, upvote
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Doctor-Elect Jill Biden
Same degree that Bill Cosby has.
That escalated pretty quickly!
But she stayed in a Holiday Inn Express.
😂😂😂
And Joe Biden is not the President-Elect!
Well done.

She has a PhD. This is being petty and is ok for meming here, but will discredit you if you post outside
What are you talking about? The meme clearly indicates she has a PhD.... No one is denying that.
The issue is that she calls herself doctor in relation to discussing covid-19 which does mislead some people.

A PhD in biology, virology, or even public health would also qualify her to opine as an expert in my opinion. But education? Haha

Doesn't Trump have an honorary doctorate?

She demands that everyone call her “Doctor” in any setting, not just professional ones.
Anyone, including medical doctors (and I am one) who walks around demanding that people call them “doctor” in non-work settings deserves ridicule.
No an Ed. D
