I've seen many posts showing graphics or expressions of communists being thrown out of helicopters. The urban legend I'm familiar with is an alleged incident in Vietnam where special forces were in a helicopter interrogating two communists. Neither spoke, so they beat the crap out of the first communist, then threw him out of the helicopter. His buddy, seeing what happened, ended up singing like a bird. After they received the information they needed from the second communist, they beat the crap out of him and threw him out of the helicopter.

The real story began when they were loading wounded enemy onto a helicopter. The helicopter was hovering above the area, not too high, just low enough to quickly load the wounded and then fly to the next destination. They pulled the wounded up on stretchers and ropes.

This was during the Vietnam War.

They were gathering the dead in one area, and the wounded in another area for collection and transport to medical facilities for treatment, then release into detainee camps. It so happened that one of the wounded enemy that was loaded into the helicopter died on the way to the medical facility. The helicopter turned around and returned to where they were gathering the dead. They lowered the body to the ground.

Unfortunately, the body wasn't properly tied. Partway from the helicopter to the ground, the body slipped and fell to the ground. Again, the helicopter wasn't at a crazy height. It was hovering low enough to gather the wounded and then fly to the next destination.

This created an urban legend that grew over time... This story evolved to where the helicopter kept being "higher" as the body dropped... Then it wasn't a dead body, but a person that was alive who eventually was thrown out of the helicopter.

There may be other versions of this, or events of people being dropped from helicopters, but the one that I'm familiar with originated in Vietnam and was told by many a military embellisher and military imposter to friends who didn't know any better.

I’ve known this concept since at least college. But I believe it is true, and it was a technique Pinochet used when he was fighting Communists in Chile, and is true.

The accounts that I've read regarding this appears to conflict with each other. Some accounts have bodies of victims being thrown out of helicopters, others claim that people were thrown out alive. Others have both being done.
