Not like most enlisted military members are going to start drone starting civilians on US soil. Enlisted members from from almost every state, they aren't about to start bombing their neighbors.
And no, an rebellion by Americans carrying similar semi auto sporting rifles wouldn't be quashed in 30 seconds. It'd actually be damn hard to stop.
Not to mention air strikes are not efficient in this type of fight. It's a lot easier to hit people in the desert and the taliban seem to be doing just fine with less training and shittier weapons.
