It seems like the majority of people have no clue what is going on right now in this country. They just go on about their lives as if nothing at all is happening. I definitely get not stressing about this full time, but, at least for me, it has been hard to pay attention to much else.

Apart from people being oblivious, when they are shown information or told about what is going on, many just seem to shrug it off as if it is no big deal, like it won't affect them.

It has made me feel like I'm completely losing my mind. Most people that I talk to have no idea that the President is likely going to enforce the insurrection act or martial law. Many have no idea that China has heavily invaded our country.

And even when they are told about it...they still just shrug their shoulders.

Am I the only one that is dealing with this?

No you're not alone. I am about to lose my mind because everyone i work with are still more concerned with footballgames, or they view the election of the most powerful man on the planet as "my team beat your team, good luck next time". It's freking scary.

Case in point. I am working from home doing mindless computer work. Our department communicates via a messaging app most of the time. Someone mentioned a sonic boom near here that had just occurred. I passively suggested it was possible it was jet returning to base, as we live in the flight and maneuver path of a major military installation. I also dropped a little knowledge by mentioning that there is an abnormally high level of military traffic currently. The comments? "That's strange!" "Wow, I wonder why there is so much traffic? What's that about?!" I just shook my head at the gross ignorance of otherwise "educated" people. I didn't offer anything else. Maybe one of them actually got off of their ass and looked into something. It's disheartening. The next message to come up was about some worthless football game on Monday night. God help us all.

I usually work with one guy due to the nature of my job. We exchange pleasantries in the first hour of a shift. In four days i read a 600 page book in my downtime between my parts of the job. That is how much we talk these days. We use to bullshit all night. Now i just read, then do my part, then read some more. Reading "war and peace" now

Try "Crime and Punishment" if you haven't already.

Will do. Hunchback of notre dame was alright, but victor hugo loved his descriptions of paris......way too much.
