insisting you be addressed as a Dr. (specifically moreso when not an MD), is a sociopathic weakness with deep roots in insecurity. People saying no, has nothing to do with being "sexist" they are just being normal human beings.

Even folks who have PhDs in education say it's inappropriate for Biden to refer to herself as "Doctor"

Why is it inappropriate? I personally wouldn't call anyone a Dr. unless I have respect for their degree or the person but what makes it inappropriate?

It insinuates medical knowledge, the majority of America doesn't lump PhD with MD and when they say Dr. they have 1 thing in mind so it's false advertising.

I can't say I agree with that. In my undergrad I took classes from PhDs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Philosophy, you name it. We called them Doctor whatever. I do agree that most people who have not gone through academia would think medical doctors are the only doctors though. I still wouldn't call someone with a doctorate in some bullshit like education by that title though, unless they were a friend or someone I respect.

It's not a common practice in the profession apparently, IIRC it has to do with the field not actually conducting research etc., essentially just a more educated educator
