For real, look into how bad the Chinese did in Thailand not that long ago. Taiwan would be an air war first and I don't think it'd go nearly as well as they hope it would. They could level Taiwan with missiles, but not establish air superiority...And most certainly not successfully invade the island and hold a beachhead. They'd get slaughtered.
