Now the US govt is undergoing what I’m told is the largest cyber breach in history and CISA is leaderless because of Krebs’s decision to get involved in an election.

CISA is not leaderless. They have an acting Director, Brandon Wales.
And even if it was empty it's still better than having Krebs in the seat.
