For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Here it says men suppress the truth. The truth of what? The knowledge about God.
because that which is known about God is evident within them;
This knowledge they have about God, Paul says, is evident within them. But how?
for God made it evident to them.
This is how. God Himself made this knowledge about Him evident to them. You mean God did? How?
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen,
Through His creation, they themselves, everyone and anyone calling themselves an atheist has clearly seen His attributes, His power, His nature.
being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. — Romans 1:18-20
They understand through creation. They just suppress the truth in unrighteousness. In reality they have no excuse. There are no real atheists. None have ever existed.
I'm an atheist for the same reason I support Trump.
All of the available evidence shows that we live in a material universe with no need for the existence of a god for it to function, and in fact there is no evidence for the existence of a god within this universe.
Likewise, all of the evidence shows that the Democrats committed widespread voter fraud to change the results of the election, and in fact there is no evidence to suggest that Biden had eighty million legitimate voters.
Logically there has to be something that created our universe. Even if you believe in the big bang theory something had to set that in motion. God perhaps?
Why god and not Allah, Odin, Baal, or any of the other thousands of gods other than your own? If there is a diety that set things in motion and then abandoned the universe to its own whims, then by what basis do you declare it to be your god?
If the only claim you can make for the existence of your god is that it is YOUR god, then you cannot make that claim at all.
“Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’; Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it. — Isaiah 46:9-11
He doesn't abandon the universe to its own whims, He's in complete control of it. Always has been.
You are quoting a book pieced together by Roman politicians at the Council of Nicea in 325. It was pieced together from writings made over the course of the previous three thousand years before that by sheep herders and nomads. They decided to pick and choose what parts they liked, and they even included in new things from Hellenic Paganism to make it more appealing to the Roman people.
It is not proof of anything. It is a good book, but using bible passages as evidence for the existence of God is like using Plato's writings as proof of the existence of Atlantis.
The Bible authenticates itself and therefore is self-authoritative. The wisdom it contains leaves anyone who finds it with no choice but to know it comes from God.
God Himself through His absolute and complete sovereignty preserves His word and keeps it pure, and has used prophets and apostles as pens to write the words He purposed them to use.
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. — 2 Peter 1:20-21
The Bible makes massive claims and then backs them up.
Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’; — Isaiah 46:10
The Bible is the only writings to have ever declared things before they exist, proving itself to be inspired by God.
Why do you reject the book of Mormon? It is self-authenticating. The first passage is all about several witnesses swearing that the known con artist really did read those golden pages out of a hat with magic stones.
The Book of Mormon is exactly as "self-authenticating" as the bible. The only difference is that we know for a fact that Joseph Smith was a con artist who spent time in prison for pulling cons using the same methods described in the Book of Mormon.
Nothing in the book of Mormon declared something before it came to pass. It's just one of 1000s of man-made religious books.
The evidence for you is everywhere, clearly seen through what's been made. God has made it evident to you.
Then God has done a very, very, very good job at hiding it. It is almost as if he has gone out of his way to disguise his actions as natural processes, to the point where the only basis one could have to believe in his existence is faith alone.
You've just done a very, very, very good job of suppressing the truth of God that's been made evident to you.
If you tell yourself a lie over and over for decades you'll be surprised what you can believe. When the curtains are pulled back, and all of your thoughts, every thought you've ever thought is laid bare before you, you will be exposed. So much so that you will be without excuse. You must begin by being completely honest with yourself.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David. The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat. — Psalm 19:1-6
Look, I am aware of Christian doctrine and I have more respect for it than your average Atheist. I am trying to be charitable here, and this is all I have to say:
If there is a God, then he has made the world work through natural processes and has done such a perfect job of it that he has left nary a clue of intelligent design in his work. He did this so that no evidence or proof of his existence could be found, and thus one could only adhere to belief in him out of faith.
Faith in God is a righteous virtue, but it is simply one that I do not have.
Study the anthropic principal while trying to avoid all the pseudoscience attacking it. That's what I did, and it's what got me to rid all of the suppression of God's existence that I had produced over the years. This was decades ago, but here is a summary.
Human beings climb. Always have, always will. First hills, then mountains, then pinnacles so high they're called "death zones." That's as high as legs could carry them, but not high enough. So people invented balloons, blimps, airplanes, and spacecraft, the higher the better—to a point.
At first, scaling heights made people feel big and powerful. Then they began to feel small, utterly insignificant even, in the hugeness of the cosmos. Today, ironically, the same forces that once shrank humanity's perception of himself now magnify him beyond the wildest imagination, yet with no basis for pride and every reason for humility. Those forces, insatiable curiosity, and capacity for inquiry have lifted humans to a vista, an insight called the anthropic principle, that carries their gaze to the edge of the universe and beyond.
The anthropic principle says that the universe appears "designed" for the sake of human life. More than a century of astronomy and physics research yields this unexpected [😂] observation: the emergence of humans and human civilization requires physical constants, laws, and properties that fall within certain narrow ranges—and this truth applies not only to the cosmos as a whole but also to the galaxy, planetary system, and planet humans occupy. To state the principle more dramatically, a preponderance of physical evidence points to humanity as the central theme of the cosmos. [more like points to God fine tuning, upholding, and sustaining the universe to support life on earth.]
Support for the anthropic principle comes from an unwavering and unmistakable trend line within the data: the more astronomers learn about the universe and the requirements of human existence, the more severe the limitations they find governing the structure and development of the universe to accommodate those requirements. In other words, additional discoveries are leading to more indicators of large-scale and small-scale fine-tuning.
Edit: This is how I came to know that yes, there must be a Creator. From there, I studied the Bible. I challenged the Bible at every opportunity. Studied long lists of supposed Bible contradictions. Studied all the hard questions. Debated atheists daily, mostly to find out what the new fads were over what new ways they were attacking the Bible. I realized every one of their arguments were based off ignorance and fallacy. It cemented my belief that this bible was the inerrant inspired word of God.
From there I began studying the prophecies. Things in the OT that said 100s of years before they were going to happen, and they did. Years later after studying almost everyday I came to realize that I didn't need to go through all the stuff I went through previously to know. The wisdom found in this book and the backing up of its monumental claims was enough for me to know that it's inspired by God. After reading enough of it you begin to understand that this book is beyond the pale of any man's intelligence to write. No one could make this up. The wisdom in it and it's perfect consistency throughout all the books is unmistakably wisdom from God. I learned all of this year's ago before I was ever saved. What I know now compared to then is probably 1000 fold. There is no doubt in my mind that this claim is true.
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. — 2 Peter 1:20-21
In my experience, the vast majority of "atheists" use atheism as a smokescreen for anti-Christian agendas.
Over the last decade, there have been numerous bogus lawsuits put up against Christian organizations and churches by "atheists" with too much time on their hands. Worse, leftard-rigged courts are all too happy to give these "atheists" what they want.
I almost never see "atheists" going after any other religion. The obvious conclusion is that they are specifically targeting Christianity.
A real atheist would oppose all religions equally. Selectively targeting Christianity makes a person anti-Christian (antichrist???), not atheist.
It has been marketed as cool and intellectually superior to be atheist. Being an atheist is the most intellectually dishonest statement you can make. I can get an agnostic belief, but to state with certainty there is no god is showing mans ego and arrogance at its best. One only has to question the origins of the universe for 5min to come to the conclusion of a greater being.
OP is an atheist for every god except for one. Why that one? Because of when and where you were born. That is all.
It's because He actually is God, and He's the only one. He declares the end from the beginning, before it even takes place. There is no one like Him.
God cannot be observed with touch, smell, hearing, eye sight, or tasted.
God can only be observed with your mind and anything that can only be observed in your mind is imaginary.
You first sentence is a hypothesis. What evidence do you have for it?
All you wrote is a representation of dimensionality of space to convince us there can be something outside of space.
The fun fact is: There are no 2D creatures. There are no 3D creatures. We all live in space time. The whole "creature from another dimension" is pseudo-science. It is belief expressed with words to which you do not understand the meaning. It is the same thing as middle-aged women claiming "crystals have "energy"". Energy is a rigidly defined scientific concept.
You sound insecure.
No, it is not. We can not know what is not, but we can know what is, but we need evidence. God is not a scientific hypothesis as it can not be tested, but since you are the one claiming god exists, the burden of proof rests upon you. Not on me.
Study Russell's teapot.
If you need a magical man in the sky to get you through the day that's fine. There is no god.
Religion is a way to take barbarians and make them civilized. It worked.
The word your looking for is pseudointellectual.
You use terms like "magical man in the sky" to discredit the truth. Logically there has to be a creator. To think the universe came to be without outside forces is impossible.
Do you feel civilized?
Seriously, world wide sex trafficking, slavery, corruption rotting to the core in our own political system. This world is far from civilized and it will never be.
You can say there's not but deep down, when you aren't suppressing the truth of what you know, you're kidding yourself.
You're a religious zealot. Fuck off.
I am simply a believer who takes God at His word. Everyone should. It's foolish not to.
