Yes. Civilian courts are the ones that are corrupt. That’s why we take them through the military tribunal. If the treason isn’t met with quick complete end, they will just get out and build their numbers right back up to do the same thing.
Traitors are not people anymore. And most death penalties I have read about the case had damning evidence which is hard to say yea, pay 35,000 - 50,000 a year per person to front. I get what you are saying and I think your head is in the right place. But the death penalty is still needed in the right case. There are people too vile to be allowed to live.
I lean toward agreeing with you. If one innocent person is executed the process is just as bad as the crime it claims to fight. I was once fully in support of the death penalty but I have changed slightly over time. I kinda think that if the death penalty worked so well why do we have to use the death penalty at all? But on the other hand there are times when you really do need to make an example in order for people to understand that you can't just do whatever you want and get away clean. At this point I would just be happy if anyone got punished for crimes in the political arena.
I am pretty conservative on virtually every topic of note. But admittedly, the death penalty question is the one I have some sympathy to the opposite side, basically for the reasoning in the OP.
I'm split between being gung-ho for treason, anything to do with a coup, especially for those whose job it is to ensure and protect citizens' rights, and the chilling concept of the state having the power to snuff out a human life. However, the justice system would have to demonstrate that the concept of equal justice under the law is immutable and a bedrock principle first and I'm not sure that's possible.
The death penalty is a last resort and takes years or decades to be effected. It should be an option imo.
Most people in prison won't be affected, the government wants a population of captive slaves. If they go gung ho executing people there will be backlash.
I agree with you. Look at how traitorous all these small local governments have been. And who prosecutes criminals? County DA's. Do we really want them to have the right to KILL us? Especially when we've seen how quick they are to lie, cheat and steal when it's politically convenient? A DA's career is made or broken with the number of CONVICTIONS they can get. Do we really trust them not to cheat a little to get re-elected? Maybe throw some false evidence into a high-profile case just to make sure they win? I don't.
Has nothing to do with "every life matters" or "poor tyrone was a gud boy, dindu nuffin, just tryna get his life back on track." It has everything to do with these sleazy, tinpot dictators who go fucking rabid once they get the slightest bit of power. People who would do ANYTHING to keep that little bit of power, the cushy job, getting their face in the newspaper, and getting their wives into the country club that would otherwise be out of their league. I trust NOT A ONE of these local fuckers, not a ONE.
We're going through the military courts.
Don't get nervous. We're going to execute all the traitors one way or another.

Nah if you do something like the Boston Marathon or 9/11 then the death penalty should be on the table.
The actual perpetrators in both those cases are questionable...

I was against the death penalty when I was young.
But the more true crime I read / watched the more I would pull the lever.

I agree except in cases it’s beyond a reasonable doubt.
That’s a fair point,
