It's even worse if you average with 2018-2019. There was a mild flu season that year and deaths were lower than average. Coming in to 2019-2020 the number of susceptible, high risk, people were abnormally high. These were the people who were taken out by COVID. In all likelihood, they would have died a year earlier if we had a normal flu season.
