I live in the Netherlands and it's certainly not free. Quite the opposite, we don't even got a choice, because every citizen has to pay for it. And every year the costs go up because of their monopoly. Nowadays I pay around €140 euro which is the basic package + part of teeth are covered.

Wow! I lived in NL and had to pay supplemental fees as well, but I thought it was because I was an expat PLUS we were told if we paid more for our insurance we'd get better coverage.

Either way, I'm with you. Free is NOT free when it comes to healthcare.
