Yep. In my area, some of the places with the highest hysterical compliance have more cases than the town I live in where the compliance is less and they're having weekend street fairs!
It's also just peoples common sense. Without the media barking about this all the time, I don't think life would have changed one iota. I bet only doctors and a few scientists would even know there was a new strain of covid floating about, and for 99% of the country it would be irrelevant information.
I mean, the best proof of masks not working is all the evidence of politicians, celebrities, etc not wearing them when they're not on camera.
As well as the continued rise in cases despite a horrifying 90+% mask compliance according to polls.

I agree! It unfortunately shows just how susceptible a LARGE, very dumb group of Americans are to misinformation.
