It's also just peoples common sense. Without the media barking about this all the time, I don't think life would have changed one iota. I bet only doctors and a few scientists would even know there was a new strain of covid floating about, and for 99% of the country it would be irrelevant information.

I agree! It unfortunately shows just how susceptible a LARGE, very dumb group of Americans are to misinformation.
