If Republicans fuck this up (or the CCP has more representatives than we know on their payroll) and the House doesn't choose a President by inauguration day... the person elected Vice-President would act as President until someone "qualified" is elected.
They can turn this into forcing Kamala Harris directly into the White House.
Not sure where you get information, but if the president is not sworn in on inauguration day, the Speaker of the House (Pelosi) becomes acting president until someone is sworn in.
