He was a CIA planted in the NSA, since those agencies are always at war with each other he revealed a whole bunch of secrets to the agencies and compromised our security to our enemies. One of those programs was the domestic spy program and for that we are grateful, but he also did a great deal of harm. Hence why he is such a controversial figure. Plus hiding out in China and Russia makes his whole operation more suspicious, though it’s not unreasonable for him to feel unsafe on American soil. Complicated situation.

Snowden was a CIA plant set out to destroy the NSA. The CIA just wanted more power and control.

They have different jurisdictions. Show proof.

Snowden was a former CIA contractor (Sys Admin). https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/edward-snowden-interview/who-edward-snowden-man-who-spilled-nsas-secrets-n114861

Snowden only attacked the NSA. He had access and knowledge of CIA's attacks on privacy and did not release any of their information or tools. CIA tools that we now know about because Wikileaks got their hands on them and released it all. Backdoors to all kinds of systems. CIA can spy on US citizens, they just do it through other avenues by using FISA courts to target people in contact with US citizens or by using partners in Five Eyes.

The CIA spied on the Senate and got away with it. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/12/a-brief-history-of-the-cias-unpunished-spying-on-the-senate/384003/

Snowden was only concerned with the NSA but specifically ignored the shady shit that the CIA was doing. That's quite telling.

Not sure about Snowden. Flynn had this post yesterday about his 2014 comments: https://parler.com/post/82a7dbbb96de4637898dd7fc17ef5362

Snowden actually broke the law and committed federal crimes. I don't think Snowden is a bad guy but he had options that he should have exhausted before taking 3 laptops full of shit and heading to China. Assange did nothing wrong. He signed no agreements, worked for no federal agencies.

The options that Snowden would have had to go through would have left him dead or in prison. Obama his Government had no love for whistleblowers.

Not really. It would have just been bureaucracy you are too much into spy novels. He might have been yeeted out of his position but nothing would have happened to him. The fact is Snowden did not seem to raise any concerns at all within the agency or even try to find a sympathetic ear in congress or anywhere. He just downloaded a crap ton of secret info and left for China.

Frankly it was ignorant. Like I said I don't doubt his aim was noble, but the method he chose was stupid, destructive, and illegal.

Do you know how many whistleblowers Obama had put in prison?

Jemmy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Whistleblower protection.

Our courts have already determined that what the government was doing was illegal!

How the hell would you not have a corrupt deep state if it's illegal to report their crimes?

I don't believe he has been charged?

Doesn't need to be charged for a presidential pardon. Very persistant myth on this forum. See Ford pardoning Nixon for example.

Snowden recently applied for Russian Citizenship (while keeping US Citizenship).

I don't think he's getting a pardon.
