it's not for a "primary source of communication"

it's a backup covert means to communicate with people in your area "Anonymously" so if you need to "organize some shit" you can do without being incriminated...

It's the solution to rogue government and organizing resistance.

Is it encrypted? Does it support groups?

Not being an ass—I’ve never heard of this so I’m curious about it’s capabilities.

I happened to have seen videos about LoRa on YouTube. If I remember correctly, it can have encryption and group. And it is just a protocol and transmitter/receiver module, not a finished product like an iPhone. That is, you don't have to buy the thing in the picture above; you can just buy the transmitter/receiver module, download the LoRa library and use Arduino or ESP etc to create your own device.

doesn't look like it. Here's a link that I found with some info on it, hopefully accurate.

https://hackaday.io/project/170878-armachat-doomsday-wireless-qwerty-communicator

Says message encryption is on the todo list - not sure if it has been done.

Everyone's doing it now because we can't trust the ISPs or telecom networks

I'll be a little more confident when star link is up we gotta based engineer scheming a way to bypass the assholes all together and watch humanity thrive!

if you can attach a watch band, i'm sold.

looks cooler than calculator watches ever did.

6
BluestedSRT 6 points ago +6 / -0

Admit it. You just want a PipBoy.

Error404 5 points ago +5 / -0

dude that's blasphemy, calculator watches were the ultimate class symbol. "hey look, no girl wants to touch me... but it's ok because I can do my homework on my ARM"

Wouldn't a real radio with a real antenna, a real power source, and real weather-proofing texting via APRS be a far better, far quicker solution?

spez: I'm just getting started in radio, so this could very well be a really dumb question :) I've read about keying messages via APRS, but never tried.

1
PeacefullautoFlavor [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

YES ! thats why i SAID WE SHOULD GET ON THIS not go buy from pcbway nothing more then food for thought

1
PeacefullautoFlavor [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

you thing WE cant COPY the CCP ???

2
TheRoyalRob 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't know what this is.... but I want.

2
flaming_death 2 points ago +2 / -0

That thing would probably transmit quite a bit further than a voice radio of the same wattage. Data requires much less power than voice...the big thing is, getting everyone to buy into it, or else you're transmitting to nobody. If you had a ready-to-buy option, I'd be there already.

Also, what frequency band is this?

1
PeacefullautoFlavor [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

i just posted a video on it
