I’m for total marijuana legalization, even though I don’t use it myself. Much more important things to worry about right now, however. Pot smoking is really sorta never an emergency.

Most people here don't care about weed. If you're a true conservative you don't need government to tell you not to do drugs.

Low energy pothead post. put the bong down and use logic.

a) Bring millions of jobs into the country- Millions? total bullshit

b) Allow 10s of millions to not depend on pharmaceuticals for chronic pain / disease - they already smoke pot and are still popping opioids don't act like junkies don't already smoke.

c) Lower violent crime & gangs joggers still gonna jog

d) Provide tax surpluses - why do you want to tax a plant you can grow yourself? BTW surplus means the govt wont spend it all like all the other sin taxes forever.

WHY EXACTLY are boomer conservatives against this again??? Cause potheads are moody assholes. pot causes estrogen spikes (bitch tits much) and mood swings (i have anger issues..), pot causes paranoid schizophrenia you know when the paranoids you get from pot don't go away.

Mostly decriminalized Marijuana is a nationwide done deal. If someone tries to unwind this, they will face insurmountable headwinds.

Null Topic.

I saw a study indicating that violent crime seems to not go down, but most of the others seemed to ring true.

I am not 100% pro-marijuana myself, but take the libertarian response to plants. Gubmint has no business with what plants people deal with.

I use weed but I am on the fence about legalizing it federally. Feels like liberals try to push weed as hard as they can, like they just want us to be high, lazy and not give a shit about what they do.

I literally don't know anyone opposed to medical Marijuana. I know very few opposed to it being legal. Don't confuse Trump supporters as traditional Republicans, there are some sure, but not the majority.

Traditional conservatives would be against cannabis on religious beliefs. Libertarians are neutral on it as long as it doesn't affect them in public spaces. I think most of the younger generation leans more towards libertarianism than conservatism.

The pharmaceutical industry has been the enemy of both sides for a long time. Over-regulation has eliminated free-market competition, which allowed pharmaceutical companies to charge whatever they want. You might want to look up how Trump has actually made progress in the realm of lowering drug prices while Obummer did not.

Sure legalize it. But give it the same liabilities as alochol.

Yes. Pot was originally distributed by the government, it's highly addictive, stunts mental growth, eliminates motivation and drive, is indicative generally of an unproductive lifestyle, carries over tons of health risks and consequences shared by smoking cigarettes, and its distribution and production is literally the primary engine for the cartels, who enslave local populations in South America to work for them. It is also a gateway drug to harder substances and prescription medicine abuse. If I had any faith that legalizing it would make it harder for the cartels to have their way, then that'd be one thing, but the states that have legalized it have yet to prove that. Also, it has been proven, thanks to Oregon, to be a legitimate slippery slope toward legalizing hard substances, like heroin and cocaine.

It is entirely reasonable for one to be against legalizing marijuana and desiring transparency and reform in the pharmaceutical industry. Those are not contradictory desires.
