The left doesn't want to abolish the police, generally speaking. True believer an-coms might actually want a stateless society with no cops (until they have their chance at the levers of power and decide to unleash their inner Stalin, that is) but they're comparatively rare anyway.
The left does want police. They may want police to stand down while screaming rioters knock over Wal-Marts and Autozones, but they also want police to arrest you because your hunting rifle holds 10 rounds instead of 5. They want police to knock on your door because you went on Twitter dot com and made fun of a delusional man who thinks he's a woman. They want police to uphold the status of "sanctuary cities".
They want police to arrest you for not wearing a stupid mask at the park.
