SolarWinds is an IT management software used by lots of Fortune 500 companies and the US government. Last night CISA reported it was hacked to get in the US treasury and the attack came backed from a foreign government (they won’t say who but we can all assume it’s China.) interestingly it was also used by Dominion Voting systems.

News articles say the foreign government was Russia, which I thought interesting given there didn't seem to be any corroborating evidence.

It does not "run" anything. It only monitors and maybe backs up some configs. Don't look like an idiot online running around screaming about it. Most companies are barely even worried about it.

Not saying it isn't serious, but trying to write this fucking retarded imaginary hollywood movie that so many on here are is the wrong way to look at it.

Most companies are pretty damn worried about it. I know of 3 very large ones locally that have been addressing this all weekend as well as one I do consulting with

solarwinds might not run anything, but the exploit can do just about whatever it wants. It is not limited by the hosts functionality.
