Then you have the news reports that 'online betting also favors a Biden win, and these are people voting with their dollars'. I agree. I’d love to know who makes the decisions in these betting houses. Overall it doesn’t seem much of a loss to pay out early on political bets - probably a fraction of their overall income for the year. In which case it would be easy for someone to say, ‘hey, call it early, we’ll pick up the tab for you - and you get to pay out both sides? All your clients will love you and we get to fuck with everyone’s heads’

They "don't care" who wins because they get their 5% off the top and then it's just these people paying those people. But if you can choose to call it in a certain direction and avoid being sued, you have a weighted and manipulated poll that you can use for media attention and sociopolitical clout. And instead of having operational costs like a poll, the people providing the skewed responses pay you for the privilege.
