Fistful of Dollars is the Western Yojimbo. A lot of westerns borrow heavily from Kurosawa's films. For as disparate as our cultures are/were, it's fascinating how you have analogous archtypes like the cowboy and samurai.
And "Yojimbo" was inspired by Dashiell Hammett's hard boiled detective novels. Which I also love. It's fascinating and fun tracing all the connections and permutations.
I’m Playing it now. Even after I’ve been heavily burned out with 3rd person, open-world, action/rpg games... this one is my favorite. I had no clue. I thought it was a mother Witcher clone. Fantastic game with Kurosawa all over it
