Yes it is true that if just 1 Senator and one Rep contest it it automatically goes to a vote but for it to TRULY be contested we need to overturn 3 or more certifications by January 6th OR have them contested in a vote. Unfortunately the amazing job that GOP state legislatures have done today does not make it an automatic win for us with Pence deciding which votes to certify.
I am by no means a doomer but I just want us to stay informed and not get complacent. WE NEED TO WIN SOME COURT CASES AND MAKE SURE THAT OUR SO CALLED REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED SENATE DOES THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE! I beleive this is still possible but there is still a lot to be done!

State legislatures didn't do anything today. The electors voted by themselves independent of the legislatures and so do not have official sanction.
Yeah, they are more of a placeholder in case the Biden electors are disqualified or challenged...but I think the Trump electors would then need to be certified by the State legislatures to be legit.
Yeah, based on my understanding them voting is useful provided later actions make their votes official. Whether that happens or not is uncertain. I'm optimistic, but we'll see.
