And how did they choose? Why?
They chose Hayes over Tilden because Tilden and his running mates platforms was to re-legalize slavery and the electors wisely knew that the only reason there was a plurality of votes for Tilden, they knew the outcome if Tilden was allowed to implement his agenda. Too bad modern "edumacated" electors are that smart. Even with all those degrees.
