So I clicked your link, and while I generally agree we shouldn't be spreading the fake, we also shouldn't be taking post titles at face value, and the first comment in that thread you linked questions the validity of the post title. I don't know about everyone else but I always always check the comments for further verification before getting excited.

Things have gone to shit. Everyday it's just a circlejerk over the hot new news/rumor until that is proven to be false/nothing then it's on to the next one.

I totally agree and try to combat the retardness I see in the comment section of whatever post but always get downvoted to oblivion but also idgaf. Some of these posts are pure hallucinations

I spent several hours watching live stream of electoral college voting this afternoon. I posted results from Georgia/Pennsylvania and was immediately attacked for being Democrat and fake news because I had no knowledge of Republicans dual vote strategy.

What sucks is actively trying to contribute to this community only to have some asshole tear apart every word posted. I joined this site for camaraderie, esprit de corps and the freedom to absorb/disseminate information.

I hate it the most when a post is a few hours old and someone has called out OP in the comments quickly after being posted, and OP acknowledges that it's a mistake or fake news, BUT THE POST IS STILL UP.

If you make a mistake and get called out, PLEASE PEDES, don't leave your post up. Be humble and honorable, and just delete it.

It's just lots of people taking interest in things and getting excited and wanting to be supportive of the information other pedes have dug up. I think it's great that we have so many knowledgable pedes to be able to say hey hey hey that isn't accurate or that is old. And those rebuttals are upvoted often to be the first comment. So the checks and balances seem to be working at least! Lots of stuff is duplicate... I wonder if there would be a dupe button/algo to tie stories onto others for better post efficiency.
