When I solo travelled across Germany I spent my first night in a nice hostel that happened to be in the redlight district of Frankfurt. I have a good friend that's from Villingen-Schwenningen in the Black Forest so I spent a good deal of time there as well as Heidelberg, Bremen, and both East and West Berlin. Can't wait to go back!
