That's so interesting. One thing I read documented about Lincoln that you probably wouldn't expect from such an intense-looking fellow is that his voice was high-pitched and kind of squeaky. I looked for any video of his cousin (Ralph Lincoln) and, lo and behold, it's the exact voice they described Lincoln himself as having. So, you can probably imagine approximately what the president may have sounded like!

I just caught some PBS Civil War doc earlier and they failed to mention that the Confederates were the Dems through out the entire program.

I started to explain to my room mate and I anticipated the ol" "Southern Strategy" argument. Once you have that, you can shut their bullshit down PH. There was no "Southern Strategy". Nixon was considered "progressive" on his stance on desegregation and was promoted as the most progressive President de-segregationist of his time."

There was no switch. Dems once racist, always racist.

Nope. In fact, they continue to lie about him. The modern "Progressives" keep trying to claim Lincoln was a "progressive" and not a Republican.

"But you say you are conservative - eminently conservative - while we are revolutionary, destructive, or something of the sort. What is conservatism? Is it not adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried? We stick to, contend for, the identical old policy on the point in controversy which was adopted by "our fathers who framed the Government under which we live;" while you with one accord reject, and scout, and spit upon that old policy, and insist upon substituting something new." - Abraham Lincoln, Cooper Union Address, February 27, 1860.
