Guys, isnt the electoral vote officially contested still due to the extra electors? It seems betfair has stopped betting and proclaims that Biden won. Shouldnt they have suspended the market and waited untill it isnt contested anymore?

I feel cheated by them.

If you have money in it, get ready to collect a payment or sue when Trump is inaugurated.

Yes, this is what they said:

https://betting.betfair.com/politics/us-politics/us-election-betfair-market-settlement-latest-051120-204.html

We have not settled certain markets on the Betfair Exchange relating to the U.S. election because of the uncertainty about the outcome of the results caused by ongoing recounts and potential legal challenges.

Given our responsibility to both backers and layers to ensure that the markets are settled correctly and given the unprecedented amount of money that has been traded on these markets, we have sought advice from leading U.S. lawyers to determine the appropriate time to settle the markets.

We currently anticipate that we will wait until the outcome of the Electoral College votes on 14 December 2020 is known before we settle the markets. This, of course, assumes that there is no conclusive outcome before this date.

It seems to me there is still alot ongoing

if they've paid out the more than billion dollars in wagers, there will be no money to sue for >:(

BritGroyper 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well they shouldn't have paid out then! Hope they go bankrupt if they don't fix this. There's no excuse for them to pay out this early. I'm sure it wouldn't have killed them to wait until January 20th.

Hold fire....if the fraud is proven and Trump award the true electoral votes they will have to pay up according to their own conditions. It may take a class action though.

Thanks, you seem to know it is in their conditions: i really hate their site and find it horrible to navigate, could you point me ina direction to look it up and screenshot it?

I haven’t looked at Betfair, although I did back Trump with them. I looked at the Sportsbet conditions whereby their decision was based on nominated electors. It goes without saying that this will change if Fraud is found prior to 6/1. Betfair policy is likely the same. It’s a long shot I know but there is still some hope.

This is why I refused to use political betting sites this time around.

It was glorious in 2016 tho.

The Betfair conditions stated clearly that “the us president will be determined by the 12th amendment” (I have a screenshot of it). So contesting electors DO matter. Also they did no “settle” the outcome, but “suspended” it at first (I have a screenshot of that too). It shows this was a decision by Betfair outside of their general policy.

I screenshotted their terms and services. They clearly state the 12th amendment will be followed to determine the president of the US. They have no grounds to stand on.

Depends upon the rules of the bet. I'm sure the payout rules stipulate that the determination is made when the EC vote has been cast. The rules likely even have language protecting them in case the EC vote is later reversed.

Lol Betfair, an ironic name for one of the most crooked elections in United States voting history.

Consider it an education on why you don't gamble, how the house always wins and how the house will fuck you.

BritGroyper 3 points ago +3 / -0

Valid point. Can't trust anyone. Should have known better to be honest.

Online gambling is notoriously shady. I've seen so much stupid shit, with kids and dumbfucks losing or being cheated out of fortunes on it for years and it makes me scared of having kids and them falling into it. If you learned your lesson that's the most important thing as everyone does stupid shit.

I almost bet the farm on Trump except I couldn't get crypto authorization the night of...

I would have lost everything on a lie and prob had a heart attack.

Next time. I'll only bet what I'm willing to lose.

I knew there was gonna be fucked afoot but these assholes need to refund or call it like it is.

i ofcourse betted on Trump, not on Biden!

They have the terms of the bets spelled out ahead of time. This one probably paid out based on the electoral college in this date. So if the college gets tossed, it wouldn't get reversed because it wasn't the way the payout criteria was defined.

Someone posted their lawyers thought this was the way to close it out. They may have screwed up.

the official GOP twitter accounts for several states with GOP led legislatures have claimed they did.

The bet was for 'Next Presiden't. Not 'Projected Presiden't, not 'candidate that reaches 270'. Next president, the next president is made official at inaguaration, and that's coming straight from the constitution.

Expect to see lawsuits when Trump gets in, this won't stand because their definition/terms are wildly different from the actual bet.

Dueling electors for Trump were not certified. As much as I hate it, although I didn't bet, iirc the bet was about who gets 270 or more electoral college voted. So technically, they can settle. I'm sure they are not stupid and have lawyers who are aware of the bet conditions and greenlighted it.

4
fapoo 4 points ago +4 / -0

the bet was the next us president, not the projected us president, their terms of service adjustment is in direct conflict with the actual bet.
