Linked in only allows Left Wing political discussions. Conservatives say anything and people are like “Woah woah, no politics on linkedIn!”.

Used to work there. I was so scared that they would find out that I was a republican that I scrubbed my entire online presence of anything political because I truly knew they would fire me. The whole place was a crazy far left indoctrination center

u/MEGAMAGAULTRA dude (or dudette) I thought LinkedIn was just for resumés and finding a job and looking for sales leads.

When did it become "OK" to use it like Facebook; posting anything you felt like? I don't use it much so I don't know when it changed. I only sign in when I need to do some "deep digging" to find a contact or sales prospect.

Was this non-professional attitude come about because it's simply what the users started doing? Did LinkedIn encourage it? Did it happen once Microsoft bought LinkedIn?

You would THINK that LinkedIn would stay out of politics altogether; keeping it professional and technical.

I'll start with the TLDR: it was intentionally implemented and pushed by LinkedIn.

It was company driven actually and we encouraged both individual users and customers/companies to follow suit. We even had tools that helped produce curated content for the clients. LinkedIn realized that they could drive higher engagement rates on the LinkedIn platform when users and companies posted emotionally charged content rather than "stale and stuffy" business content. They called this "being (or showcasing) your authentic self" and creating emotional connection. I was told to tell customers to do this because it made them not a nameless, faceless company and allowed potential clients to form an emotional connection. However all it seemed to do was to help companies hire from a specific political ideological pool.

LinkedIn was actually on the verge of shedding their 'publishing' and 'groups' portion of the platform until they realized that they could drive higher post engagement, which increases traffic which increases LinkedIn utilization. Now they had the audience and decided not to scrap the aforementioned and dumped huge money into both. Soon after came hashtags as well. And then came the 'curated and featured articles' and if you've been paying attention LinkedIn basically became CNN. I think it's spiraled now further than what they thought it would and I think it will eventually hurt them but that's why you see all the feelings and emotions and virtue signaling posts. It was a very purposeful and intentional effort on LinkedIn to do so.

I had a friend that worked with LinkedIns algorithm and she said she started noticing changes with how they weighted a post. Certain hashtags, keywords, behavioral patterns or identified political stance (yes LinkedIn knows your political stance. We're exactly like Facebook in that we track you all around the internet to see what you engage with. Additionally, we got caught scanning all of your emails too.

Actually our datasets are so scarily detailed we could tell an employer how long a specific employee would stay at a company with a +/- 3 month margin with a ~95% accuracy). Anyways she noticed that the algorithm which up to that point was largely based on engagement and performance no longer seemed to be the defining factor of whether or not a post did well. She found that known right wing posts, or right leaning posts were weighted lower and would quickly 'hit a ceiling. While other posts with certain themes, topics, keywords and such would sky rocket. They also had an independent content team, tasked with creating or highlight user created content. I forgot the name of the girl that led it but she had short green hair, punk goth type dress and a massive lgbqtia+! Supporter so you know where she was putting the spotlight in terms of content creation and user spotlights.

Internal culture of the company was so far left leaning, like I said before I scrubbed all my social media to ensure that they didn't know I was a republican, let alone Trump supporter because I was that scared of losing my job. They pushed 'economic opportunity for all' however with the way they talked about it, was very easy to see that what they meant was socialist equity, not opportunity. The recruiter platform can exclude job candidates by race, gender and age (new features introduced around 2019). They held mandatory diversity and inclusion meetings. Their version of diversity and inclusion was the villianization of white people, and the push for no boarders. The Microsoft and LinkedIn CEO would send company wide emails pretty much after anything Trump did. I remember one came out so quick that I almost thought it was pre-written, when Trump announced immigration changes the Microsoft CEO quickly shot off an essay to all employees about how evil Trump was to stop immigration, how he hates anyone who's not white, and basically told you what to think. mind you for a CEO it was mind blowing that he couldn't read the "legal immigrant" portion of trumps speech. They argued that boarders were racist symbols of hate and divide.

The CEO of LinkedIn at the time who literally everyone loved would host internal meetings that basically feelings and emotions times, and how orange man bad. Hell he even told us about the Chinese spy scandal and how they were working with news outlets to minimize and suppress the news coverage of it.

We also had a speaker series, where we were given free books and invited a speaker to talk to us and then a q&a. Mind you they were all incredibly left leaning. We had Chelsea Clinton, and world Bank leader to name a few.

Fun fact, LinkedIn was actually built off of Twitters code and platform. After LinkedIn actually got successful Twitter tried suing LinkedIn for them not to use it anymore however LinkedIn and Twitter were under contact for its use. But make no mistake all well adopted social media companies all work together in forms of presenting a singular message. LinkedIn despite legal battles with Twitter, worked heavily with them in terms of content. LinkedIn CEO was actively working with other social media companies to suppress Trump news under the guise of its "triggering people" and that "he's evil so don't give him a podium" while highlighting the saviors and the lovers that are the left wing party.

LinkedIn is fkn cancer. I use it for profesional networking but pretty much all primary posts are "Woman does XYZ" or "Minority faces ABC" and its just a toxic mess.

5
AngryAsian [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

That's exactly why I left IBM, every other day, it's like, "Woman does a thing, everybody clap" and I'm just like, would she be as celebrated for doing that if she was a man...unlikely.

Plsdontfireme 4 points ago +4 / -0

And then you became an ex google ex Facebook tech lead YouTuber?!?!

4
AngryAsian [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Funny you say that, YouTube took down my channel with 50K subs for "hate speech" because I made a video comparing blacks to Asians, then they took down my channel with 2K subs for basically doing the same thing, and then they started striking my latest channel, so I was just like, F it.

I know an older woman who was laid off (a bunch of us were - hospitality industry). Last I talked to her, she was all in on this Linked In shit, watching seminars, following certain 'influencers', etc. It's total BS and I didn't have the heart to tell her you'll never get a job this way.

Plsdontfireme 3 points ago +3 / -0

I use it just get recruiter messages, im disgusted whenever I see the Facebook wall thing. I tell recruiters i need a 200% salary increase to leave my job in order to help inflate salary info. :p

LinkedIn... >:(...

I cannot stand that phoney ass place, its one massive narcissistic hangout, nothing there is truthful. On top of that, virtually everyone there is a globalist stooge.

MEGAMAGAULTRA 9 points ago +9 / -0

Don't forget Chinese spies successfully used LinkedIn to recruit u.s. Agents with various top secret clearance. LinkedIn tried to cover it up. Used to work there when it happened. The whole place was an liberal indoctrination center.

Social media companies "cracking down on misinformation" is like supermarkets censoring the tabloids. No one but Lefty blue checkmarks asked for this, and it's because they're posting misinformation and getting called out on it.

Because LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft...as in Bill Gates' Microsoft.

LinkedIn has been cucked for years. One needn’t look further than what they consider “news headlines”. It’s all virtue signaling and FUD (fear/uncertainty/doubt) tag lines.
