We have paper ballots, but nobody wants to hand count them. They keep recounting the scanned ballot images as a "recount".

We need the national guard/military to do it. Part of their duty, with the appropriate poll watchers.

My state only has scanners mounted over a locked box. The voter places their ballot in the scanner, and if there's a problem with the ballot, it's kicked back right away. Otherwise the ballot drops into the locked box.

This is what happens in my county too. But the scanners are made by Dominion. Must be hand counted. All elections wete hand counted until the 1970s and it would still be very doable.

This is the way.

Yeah, but who has access to the box? Where does it end up?

Do you have more info on this? It has been impossible for me to find out how adjudicated ballots were counted during the “hand recount” in Georgia, and what paper ballot was even counted. I have some arrogant wushu washy Atlanta friends who like to yell “paper ballots were counted!” when I mention dominion. I suspected the scanned image was counted as the hand ballot, and I believe the system may be able to change the vote on the image, but I don’t have proof.

Wisconsin did a hand recount and it came out pretty much the same. The issue there was the indefinitely confined order from the Governor and the massive amount of actual physical mail in ballots that covered likely ballot fabrication. Diversity of tactics, it’s actually a good strategy.

I’ve been curious how they handle adjudication for recounts.
