It would kind of hilarious if he was secretly was working with Trump all along, and here we are shredding him with KFC memes. There's something weird about Trump's tweet about it, the specific mention of Christmas is just, eh, awkward, and as other people have pointed out, the word "resign" is nowhere to be found. I don't know that I would place bets on it, but it's interesting nonetheless.
