If there's a dispute between the two chambers (not "houses") then the remedy isn't entirely clear by the Constitution, but one interpretation that has precedent is that the president of the Senate - Mike Pence - makes the determining call. So if R's vote to reject in the Senate and D's vote to accept in the House, then Pence can decide to overrule and simply select one slate of electors over the other.
This will definitely be challenged in court though.

You have to get a majority vote in each house to throw out the state certified electors. Pence doesn’t have an immediate role in that. Jan 6th isn’t the answer - it’s the final nail in the coffin if things don’t change.
Majority vote in each house, what does that mean?
Whenever a state's electoral vote is disputed, then the joint session breaks and each house goes to deliberate separately. So then, in those deliberations, arguments are made one way or the other, and a floor vote happens (like for typical legislation) to approve the dispute or reject it. As such, it takes a majority in each house to dispute (and then essentially reject) a state's electoral votes from certified electors.
So the House immediately makes this process impossible. In the Senate, due to the timing of the GA run-off, means that you'd need 50 votes for a majority. Dems have 48 seats - meaning only 2 GOPers would have to reject the dispute for this to not even matter in the Senate as well.
TL;DR: the dispute process on January 6 is a farce, as the House will never vote to reject the certified electors if it gets Biden over 270.

IANAL but I am pretty sure if one senator and/or rep vote not to certify the results, then Pence gets to decide which states not to accept (contested states). This would make Trump the winner due to the electoral votes of the 7 contested states being rejected.

If there's a dispute between the two chambers (not "houses") then the remedy isn't entirely clear by the Constitution, but one interpretation that has precedent is that the president of the Senate - Mike Pence - makes the determining call. So if R's vote to reject in the Senate and D's vote to accept in the House, then Pence can decide to overrule and simply select one slate of electors over the other.
This will definitely be challenged in court though.
