Assuming a Trump victory, is there a way that a MAGA party could actually come to fruition in the next 4 years without eroding conservative causes?
To me, the difficult part is that - even if 2/3 of the GOP moved to a MAGA party, they’d effectively cede control of Congress to the Democrats by eschewing a majority. Additionally, they’d be competing for votes with both the Democrats and the GOP.
If we simply look at commandeering the GOP, it doesn’t feel like we have any means of quality control for “admission” to the party... or any recourse when elected GOP officials sell us out.
How do we get from here to a party that truly represents MAGA ideals?
The only realistic way, given our system of elections, is to primary challenge and defeat incumbent republicans we feel do not represent us. The ‘problem’ with this is fighting establishment money or ‘picks’. In the end, it is up to the voters to oust undesirables from their party in the primaries when we usually just support whomever the party backs.
