The vaccine is not 100% effective, no vaccine is. You could absolutely get the vaccine and still get sick. Until enough people have antibodies from getting the disease themselves or from getting the vaccine we won't achieve herd immunity.

The fact that the vaccine ALSO lessens the impact of COVID is a bonus.

The only purpose of the vaccine is to lesson the severity of the virus which means the ONLY people who should be getting it right now are a bunch of old folks. Otherwise there's something very very wrong about why you would want healthy folks taking it...

Yes there is a small chance I can still infect others but after we've vaccinated the most vulnerable etc., how much does it really matter? We have to wait until everyone is vaccinated? And then we have a little mutation so it starts all over again? I hereby declare MSNBC nonessential...you guys can come back after this is all done.

The purpose of the vaccine is to keep you from getting very sick if you're infected. He's saying that if you're infected, you could still infect others (even though the vaccine would keep you from getting very sick yourself).
