Always start with the head and then for a regular adult, the rest of the body is usually 8 times the length of the head. Then you draw a stick figure with those proportions. You can further break down the shapes shown in the pictures into geometrical shapes like cylinders, rectangles etc. So instead of drawing the outline from a photo, try drawing the stickman skeleton on top of it, then the geometrical shapes. At some point you'll feel confident enough to draw your own stickmen.
