This. If you are scared of confrontation start small like walk in with a mask but then take it off in the store. Do it a few times and you'll see how nobody really cares. Any big box stores like Kroger and walmart won't harass you and if they do just ignore them and keep walking.
Unfortunately some dude here was arrested by police after the store employees called the police (They told him to wear a mask or leave). Dude couldn't wear a mask because of valid medical reasons. Was trying to explain that to the cop. Cop wouldn't have any of it. Got arrested.
Here in Westminster, MD, I was escorted out of a Giant by a cop due to not wearing a mask, despite claiming a medical condition. The manager made up some bull about her telling me multiple times to wear a mask, despite not a single person approaching me about not wearing a mask before that visit. I wasn't arrested, thankfully, but the cop gave me an ultimatum: Leave the store or get arrested, so I left. I'm banned from that store now too, though I can't think of a good reason I'd ever go back there again.
If it weren't for all the fucking mandates here and the threats to get the police involved, I wouldn't wear a mask at all while shopping, but until MD stops being deficient in basic intelligence, I have to deal with it if I don't feel like getting banned from more stores.
