You know, it was the Newt appointment that landed OP's theory for me. I can understand how a brief appointment in an outgoing administration might be beneficial to careers, and that a lame duck politician could throw a few favors around for loyalty. I don't know well most of the personalities OP names, so I thought, hey maybe DJT is helping them beef up their resumes, getting them security clearances, etc.
Then along comes Newt Gingrich. He's 77 years old and doesn't need the money or the practice, as the old saying goes. His involvement speaks volumes.
