Most of the soft drinks made in the late 1800s and early 1900s were made by drs, usually trying to find new medicine to sell at drug stores. So the majority of soft drinks have more claim to being doctors than her.

A PhD outranks a medical doctor which is a bachelor degree. When a medical "doctor" physician reaches the level equivalent to PhD he becomes Mr. Not sure for a woman. I don't think jill has a PhD.
