The sad truth is, most people prefer to be safe, rather than free.

It's so sad. Almost everyone I know has this opinion. People nowadays don't understand what it's like to truly lose their freedoms. They'll soon learn their lesson when life isn't back to normal in 12 months, and isn't going to be either.

I hope I'm wrong.

I even see that sentiment here sometimes. Like I get these are dire times that call for drastic measures but the amount of liberties I see people advocating to sacrifice to meet an end frightens me almost as much as not doing so. Like if Trump crossed the Rubicon and, in the horrible scenario where he gets couped by someone within his own power structure, we could potentially end up with insurrection act, military tribunals and an actual dictator.
