I have two friends who are based AF but each own their own small business. They're stuck between a rock and a hard place. These exec orders have no legal standing, so they won't get arrested if they tell Coonman to go fuck himself and don't comply. But the local agencies will make their lives hell behind the scenes (licensing, fines, etc.). Not to mention the brownshirt maskhole customers that love to rat people out for not masking up. You know, ;leaving bad yelp reviews, reporting them to ABC, and all that kind of shit. It fucking blows.
One of the advantages of living near very small towns (I'm in the sticks in rural Oregon), is that anyone dumb enough to go Full Karen quickly finds themselves (and their families) in deep shit.
This is because we quickly learn who they are, and out here, everyone relies on everyone else.
By way of example, the one cunt who did go Full Karen (and her entire family) now has to drive at least 50+ miles round-trip just to get groceries, gas, dental appointments, auto parts, or anything at all. Nobody will let her, her husband, or their kids into their stores, for any reason. Reporting a store to the state is bad... very bad. This ain't Portland, folks.
TL;DR - you can go maskless for the most part around the small towns here if you feel like it.
We had family pictures taken on Sunday in Salem, Oregon and the photographer is based, but said we could only have 5 people in the studio at a time (there is a 6 person limit, so 5 people including her makes 6). She said OSHA can come at anytime and demand her security tapes to review and if they see more than 5 people then she gets a fine. edit: spelling
