It literally can't be the "just a cold," because according to numbers from the CDC we've cured every cold-causing disease except this new mutation of the coronavirus.

So Joe's a goddamn medical miracle, I guess.

It's tongue-in-cheek. Jesus, lighten up: it's a joke in reference to the cratered numbers for most other causes of colds.

For the record, and actually being serious, the US has eradicated many diseases domestically (which is one of the great arguments for restricted immigration, by the by). The last case of wild polio was in the '70s for instance.

Then why were you talking about the CDC? You realize they aren't a worldwide organization, right? It's not up to them to say when some other country eradicates a disease; outside their wheelhouse, so to speak.

And according to the CDC, WE have eradicated polio. And yes, when someone on a forum about American politics talking about a specific American politician even namechecking an American organization says "we," you can just go ahead and assume that we mean Americans.

It may seem crazy to Europeans, but most Americans don't say "we" to encompass the entire fucking species.
