Maybe you should stick with Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver re-runs if that's the most "deviant" stuff you can come up with.

In the context of Bebop, a very weird futuristic crime world, a hermaphrodite criminal side character that showed up in like 2 episodes is more than within context. I haven't seen Bebop in years and barely even remembered that character existed, nor him/it being something that was focused on or glorified at all, let alone marketed to children since Bebop is very much intended for an adult audience.

It was just another weirdo criminal in a world full of weirdo criminals.

Never seen Champloo so I can't comment on that.

As far as "space megagovernment" that's a generic sci-fi plot device that goes back ages.
